Kristen started learning flyball in 2000, and has competed in the sport since 2002. She trained her two dogs, JoJo and Roxie, in Seattle and was a member of a flyball club there, prior to moving back to her home city of Pittsburgh in 2009. Upon finding that there wasn’t a flyball club in Pittsburgh, in 2011 she helped to start the Steel City Flyers, the areas first active club. Her thoughts on flyball go back to my roots, where one of her original club mottos was ‘all are welcome, none are forced.’ It is definitely a lifelong hobby, and she like to say that she is not a dog trainer – but simply help people and dogs learn the sport so they can really enjoy playing flyball. There are many rewards (and of course some challenges) with this team sport, and she tries to always focus on having fun, because that is the whole point.
